Victorian Revival Gold Filled Brick Weave Buckle Bracelet

NWS 1-1598

~ This Victorian Revival buckle bracelet bears the popular symbol of the buckle. The band is done in a "woven" brickwork  pattern, and is wonderfully flexible and sleek. It retains its perfect tightness and symmetry.

~ This bracelet is coated with a fine, rose gold plating done by the maker, Donson Jewelers. The earliest mark we've been able to find for this jeweler is a patent filed in 1922. That fact, and the use of aqua stones which were popular during the 1930's makes the date of 1930 a high possibility for this bracelet.

~ The buckle has what looks like a regal, crown-like buckle, studded with rhinestone chatons, and the buckle's stem has square-cut, faux emeralds.

~ The buckle-and-band motif symbolized safety and security during the 19th century. As a gift, the belt was a token of "May the Lord bless you and keep you" was lovingly conveyed.

~ The bracelet measures approximately 7" long and .75" wide.

~ The original folding clasp is secure, and is marked "dorson's 1/20th 12K GF" on the reverse.

~ Here we see a Victorian era woman posing in her finest dress and jewelry. Notice the bracelet? It's a buckle and strap!

~ c. 1870-1930 in excellent condition.
