Kenneth J. Lane Diamond Leaves Necklace & Earrings Set

NWS 1-1571

~ One of his most famous designs, this magnificent Kenneth Jay Lane necklace is a work of art. As you hold this incredible necklace in your hands and look at the scores of brilliant, faceted, faux diamonds, you know that such a piece could have easily come from Harry Winston. You look at the graceful, undulating vine with its diamond leaves, and as you turn this necklace in your hands and feel its heft, you absolutely know it was created by a master. Well, of course! Why do you think the Duchess of Windsor preferred Kenneth's designs? She had access to the best jewelers in the world and could easily afford "the Crown Jewels", but she preferred Lane!

~ And so does Lady Gaga (seen at right, wearing Lane's slightly different version of the same necklace).

~ The necklace for sale here (shown above) has a thickly-plated, midnight black metal base. It is actually made of individual links. The links are sculpted into curving forms. In the center of the necklace are 2 linked vine segments, each with 17 rhinestone marquises. To either side are two shorter segments, each with 7 marquises that look like little sprouts coming off the main vine. It is balanced with 2 more large segments on either side going all the way to the back. All in all, we're looking at over 100 leaves (WOW!!) of faceted, clear crystals. And that's just the necklace!

~ Each link is attached to the next by beautifully camouflaged hinges so that the vine moves naturally and gracefully when you move, and every single stone reflects a hundred sparkles of light, so as to create a brilliant aura around you. If you were hoping to light up an entire room with more than just your smile, this would be the demi-parure to do it.

~ The necklace measures 15.5" long. The width is slightly over 1", tapering slightly towards the back.

~ The earrings are made of two vine segments linked together, in the same way as the necklace. They measure 2.1" long and are clips. They're great to wear on days you don't use the necklace.

~ This photo (on right) shows another version of this set in gold. From Lane's book, Faking It, p. 6, it dates to 1985.

~ This set is contemporary and in mint condition.

~ All pieces are signed by KJL.

Price =  $745.00 sets 2, k-p 2
