Large Spectacular Diamond Dress Clip

NWS 8-1313

~ This magnificent dress clip is typical of the late 1930's Art Deco style.  At that time, the fashion attitude was "the bigger, the better"! Oversized brooches and clips were all the rage. "Fake" was obviously and outrageously flaunted.

~ In this dress clip, we have three oval, faceted, faux diamonds that form a line up the center. These are surrounded by dozens of pavé-set chatons (rounds), navettes and baguettes. This clip has it all!

~ Except for the pavé-set crystals, all the stones have been prong-set. Their settings are open-backed and the stones are foiled.

~ These clear crystals have been set into chromium plated, silvertone metal (called pot metal, commonly used in the 30's).

~ It measures a whopping 3.75" high and 1.5" wide - WOW!!

~ The clip mechanism has 5 small teeth, and it retains its original "snap" for a tight, secure hold.

~ Here we see Rita Hayworth in the late 1930's wearing a dress clip secured at the neckline. She wears no other jewelry - no necklace, no earrings. Just that one touch of sparkle seems to light up her face.

Day2.jpg (10577 bytes) ~ It would look great with a dressy outfit, and it would look great with jeans. Do you think diamonds have to be dressy? Doris Day wouldn't agree. Here she's wearing large, drippy diamond earrings with jeans and leather boots. What style!

c. 1930, in great vintage condition, slight speckling at the back of the large stones.

Price =  $95.00
