Wendy
Gell One-of-A-Kind Crystal Folded Cuff
NWS 7-1444
~ If you follow fashion news, then you'll
recognize the name of Wendy Gell. In fact, she has been in the headlines since 1970. Her
creations have been featured in (and shown on the covers of) Vogue (repeatedly), Vogue
Paris, Vogue London, Glamour, Viva, Vogue Italy, Bazaar,
Look, Cosmopolitan, Diona (Italian fashion mag), Woman's
Wear Daily, V, Harper's & Queen (Great Britian), and Elle
Magazine, just to name a few.... as well as countless articles in international
newpapers, The New York Times, and an appearance on Oprah.
| ~ Wendy Gell's creative career spans 35
years, and her jewelry creations are one-of-a-kind works of art. Collected and worn by
Hollywood stars and super models, these cuff bracelets are simply extraordinary. For one
thing, no 2 pieces are alike. Wendy uses strands of rhinestone-studded chains, vintage
beads and stones to create compositions that are stunning. Though the cuffs are massive in
size, women like to wear several at a time. Here we see Andie McDowell wearing 2 of
Wendy's cuffs, one on each arm (Vogue, Italy). |

|
~ This ain't your moma's cocktail bracelet!
Big, bold, daring and eminently noticeable, Gell calls her cuffs "Wristies", and
they make a statement, no matter if worn with jeans or a ball gown. To the left, we
see Isabella Rossellini showing off her wonderful blue wristy in Vogue. |

Harper's Bazaar, 1980 |
Super model Iman, wearing a similar black
and white Wendy Gell cuff. Notice that you don't have to be a large woman to
wear a substantial bracelet. Throw away those out- dated fashion
"rules". |

~ Notice also the
architecture of Wendy's jewelry,... just one element that makes her creations
surprising. Wendy Gell calls this cuff "folded", because it has so many
layers of vintage crystals and stones. The illusion is of beaded fabric folded over on
both sides of the cuff.
~ This cuff must have well over a hundred
crystals! It has stones of faceted smoky quartz, faux onyx, black glass beads, iridescent
chatons, glass pearls and faceted milk glass stones. They are all set into gold tone metal.
The reverse is signed Wendy Gell, which she signed personally with an
engraving tool. |

|
~ This cuff measures almost
2.25" wide at the center, then tapers to the back to about an inch wide. The opening
measures approx. 1 1/8". The inside circumference measures 5.25".
Cindy Crawford, Brooke Shields, Marissa
Berensen, Oprah, Andie MacDowell and countless other women of style wear Wendy Gell's
jewelry. Shown here are several super models wearing "wristies", two of them are
featured on the magazine covers! |
 |
Vogue Paris considers Wendy Gell
jewelry to be an American status symbol. When classy Vogue Paris did a great
article on New York City, her bijoux was featured. The model at left is wearing a Gell
"wristy". So sexy.... |
