Trifari Enameled & Pearl Seahorse Brooch NWS 7-1543
~ She thinks she's hidden in the emerald green, enameled seaweed, and that we can't see her. Sh-h-h-h, don't let her know we're watching! ~ A magnificent ocean creature, this adorable seahorse is covered in salmon colored enamel, but look carefully at the details. Can you see how she's not all one solid, flat color? Someone has hand-painted her, so that there are slight color variations along the edges of her scales, a charming touch of realism ~ In our magical world of make believe, the seaweed bears flowers of 6, creamy white, glass pearls ~ Our little seahorse has one faceted, faux emerald eye ~ The entire brooch is made of thickly gilt metal, and, where appropriate, the gold base metal is revealed, such as at the seahorse's mouth, and along the edges of the seaweed ~ She is marked on the reverse, "TRIFARI" with the copyright symbol, which dates her to late 1950's - early 1960's ~ She's in top notch condition! I can see one tiny nick to the enamel near her mouth, but I had to use a jeweler's loupe to find it; no scuffing on the glass pearls; almost in mint condition! ~ Brooch measures 2.85" high and 1.65" wide ~ Featured in the book, Collectible Costume Jewelry, by Cheri Simonds, p. 127 and in several others as well Price = $325.00 b3, q-z Who was Trifari? ~ Fabulous FacetsTM ~ |
