Topaz & Diamante Flower Stalk Brooch NWS 5-1630
~ Every once in a while, I cross paths with a piece that takes my breath away. This is one of them. It has no social virtues whatsoever. No fancy rhodium plating here - this pre-dates that kind of fancy treatment. No, this has the old gold tone plating over the humble, old "pot metal". Her stones were bright and shiny new at one time, but they taken some hits from madam's perfume and maybe a few sultry & humid summer nights with her lover, so this old brooch's stones have a muted fire, kind of a slow, low burn. But if you can't see their glow, you need your eyes checked. Yeah, this oldie won't win any beauty pageants tomorrow, but she's got an inner beauty that only gets earned with time. You can't manufacture this on an assembly line. This is real antiquing, won with time, love and gentle use. ~ The faux topaz marquis-cut stones are bezel-set into the metal, along with multiple tiny faux diamonds. ~ Brooch measures 4.25" long and 1.75" wide (including the arc). c. 1930's, in time-honored but time worn, fabulous condition. Price = $125.00 b6 |
