Christian Dior Diamond & Rutilated Ruby Necklace NWS 5-1355 ~ A delicate, jeweled necklace that is fit for a queen! This is the quality and beauty we've come to expect from Christian Dior. ~ The necklace is plated in rhodium, a member of the platinum family, that provides a brilliant and dramatic background for the stones. These luxurious, clear crystals have been faceted by hand, and each has been prong set with care. There are countless marquises, ovals and chatons (rounds). ~ The faux rubies are rutilated. That is to say, deep within each faceted, faux ruby are swirls of glass in a paler shade of raspberry. You can see this marbled effect in the 4th photo. These crystals are just amazing, and very unusual, if not unique! ~ The necklace is actually made of links of long, gently curved segments (last photo). If you hold it up by one end, it doesn't hang down straight. This construction allows the necklace to lie perfectly at the base of a woman's neck, conforming to her natural curves. The last two segments at either end of this superb necklace have slightly smaller stones, so that it has a tapered, graceful effect. ~ It is also interesting to note that the 3 central segments of the necklace - the one at the center with the rubies, and the two at either side of center - are also slightly arched. Place the necklace on a table. The links don't lie flat. This construction sits comfortably over the collar bone. That's the kind of attention to detail that has made the name "Dior" synonymous with quality.
