Trifari Sterling Vermeil & Diamond Leaf Brooch Clip

NWS 4-1530

~ Stunning. Elegant. This is a unique, statement piece of jewelry that is essential for the sophisticated woman's wardrobe. It can be worn with  casual, daytime attire, or it can be added for dressier occasions. Either way, it's an attention getter: It's a full 5 inches long!

~ Vermeil is the term for gold plated sterling. During WWII when white metals were restricted for the war effort, Trifari made their jewelry in sterling silver. This is one of Alfred Philippe's designs, as you can see by the patent filing above. He was Trifari's chief designer, and perhaps their most famous.

~ The stem of the leaf is plated in rhodium metal and this rhodium decoration is studded with dozens of faceted, faux diamonds. More rhodium and faux diamonds can be seen where the edges of the leaf curl, just as they do in nature.

~ The 1930's and 40's was the heyday for wearing fur clips which this piece is. A small backwards facing thorn holds the clip in place. It can be placed virtually anywhere, as you can see by the photos here. Nowadays, women also use them on hats, belts and even as napkin clips on a formal dining table. I use mine as pendants! Barbara Stanwick, June 1941

~ The Clip brooch measures 5" long and 1.125" wide.

~ Marked on the reverse "Trifari" with the crown logo above the "T". Also marked "Sterling".

c. 1942, in excellent condition, with below normal signs of wear for its age; the vermeil looks almost perfect and I see no scratches in the metal.

Price =  $375.00 q-z2, clips 2
