Trifari Aquamarine & Ruby Floral Fur Clip Brooch

NWS 4-1531

~ This is a beautiful Trifari fur clip depicting a posey of flowers.  A large spray of leaves and flowers, speckled with diamond dewdrops and pronounced green enameled details make this arrangement look lifelike.

~ Famous Trifari designer, Alfred Philippe, understood that plating the metal body of a jewel with rhodium would making the faux diamonds look as though they were set in platinum. The crystals in this piece rival anything to come out of Harry Winston's case in the 20th century!

~ This brooch is called a fur clip and has two sharp prongs that allow you to place this piece anywhere. A backwards facing thorn holds it securely in place.

~ Fourteen faceted, faux aquamarines have been prong-set onto the rhodium stems, adding a dramatic accent to the flowing, Retro design. Fifteen faux ruby cabochons are set at the terminals of each blossom. Dozens of faceted, faux diamonds form sweeping outlines on the silvered leaves and even at the curling tips. Exquisite.

~ This fur clip measures 2.5" wide and 3" high.

~ The sixth image (above) shows the original patent filing, dated Feb. 20, 1940.

~ Signed on the reverse "Trifari" with the crown logo above the "T"; also marked "Des. Pat. No. 119103".

c. 1940, in excellent condition, with no loss or tarnish to the plating or enamel; a few of the clear stones have mellowed with age. A treasure!

Price = $385.00 clips 2, q-z
