Emerald & Crystal Sea Foam Bib Necklace

NWS 4-1273

~  The design starts with an inner row of faceted, green plastic beads.

~ In between each is a long, golden, glass tube bead. These old glass tube beads are unusual. In the photos above, they look like solid gold spacers, but they're not. They are long, hollow beads. Their outsides are clear glass, and they have golden interiors that are faceted. Look at the last photo above: see the long gold beads that look faceted? What you're seeing is the inside of the bead. If you run this bead through your fingers, you'll find the clear, crystal exterior is round, smooth. The inside is faceted! You can't even buy these beads on the market today. They aren't made any more....

~ Next comes another row of faceted, green plastic beads in a larger size than the inner row. And from this outer row are suspended 20 swags of more green faceted beads, along with gold glass seed beads, and tear drop-shaped, faceted, clear crystals. Thank goodness the designer included plastic beads into this design - had it been made of all crystals, it would have been way too heavy. It is substantial, spreading out over the shoulders, and perfect for the strapless look today.

~ The necklace measures 16" long, and the bib extends by 5" to sit comfortably on the shoulders. It tapers to the back like a woman's collar.

~ The shovel clasp also has faceted green beads and gold seed beads, sewn together into a floret, and disguising the gold tone metal underneath.

c. 1940, in great condition, light wear to the plating on the underside of the clasp.  Just magnificent.

Price = $525.00 nex4
