Vintage Joseph Mazer Bow Tie Brooch NWS 3-1635
~ Takes your breath away, doesn't it?! I can think of a zillion different ways to use this in my wardrobe. Or I'd pin it to one of the straps of a black purse, just to spice things up a bit. Or wrap a scarf around my neck and pin it,... Or, I might even wear it in my hair. ~ When Joseph Mazer parted with his brother, Louis, in 1946 to form his own company, he used the signatures "Joseph Mazer", "Mazer" and "Jomaz". The company produced until 1981. ~ This plumped up bow is covered with brilliant, clear, pavé-set rhinestones, set in rhodium plated metal. ~ Faux sapphire cabochons accent both layers of the bow, placed in heavily gold-plated, bezel settings. They compliment the dark blue-black enamel detailing, a touch of the Orient perhaps? ~ The upper and lower layers of the bow are riveted together from the back. So beautifully made. ~ Brooch measures just under 2" wide and 1.25" high. ~ Signed on the reverse "Jomaz ©" c. 1955, in great vintage condition, truly a magnificent piece and not commonly found. Price = $467.00 k-p, b4 |
