Trifari Sterling Vermeil Jelly Belly Poodle, by Alfred Philippe NWS 2-2010
~ The entire brooch has been thickly plated with faux gold, which forms a perfect background for dozens upon dozens of faceted, pavé-set, clear crystals; these faux diamonds outline the poodle's ear, forelegs, portions of the rear legs, pom-pom tail, and waist ~ One faceted, faux ruby marks her eye ~ The jelly belly is comprised of a large cabochon of clear Lucite (as are all Jelly Bellies, that's where the nickname comes from); the jelly belly is in near mint condition with almost no signs of wear, even when inspected under magnification ~ She measures 2 7/8" high and 1.5" wide ~ Featured in many jewelry books, one is American Costume Jewelry, by Brunialti & Brunialti, p. 148 c. 1942, in great vintage condition; I replaced 2 tiny clear stones that were missing; minimal, normal wear to the gold plating, she looks fabulous as you can see
Price = $395.00 Who was Trifari? |
