Hattie Carnegie Square Bracelet on Hold NWS 2-1611
~ Hattie Carnegie would be the one to come up with an idea like this: a square bracelet. She was a woman for whom thinking outside the box was the norm. She was ahead of her time, a true trendsetter. ~ There is something ancient and architectural about this bracelet. Makes me think of the aqueducts of Rome. The bracelet has an archaeological essence, as though it was found in an historical Roman excavation site. ~ This bracelet is called a "clamper", meaning that it has a spring-loaded hinge that closes securely on the wrist, but it's easy on off. No safety chain needed. ~ The silver tone metal has been heavily engraved in floral and scroll designs. A raised floral cartouche graces the center of each side. ~ Even the inside of the bracelet has been machined with a checkerboard pattern. Way cool. ~ The perimeter of this bracelet measures 2.25" square. The inside shape is slightly oval and measures 1 7/8" by 2 1/8". c. 1950, best guess, in excellent vintage condition and completely unique, designer's signature plaque on the inside. Price = $157.00on Hold b2, a-c3 Who is Carnegie? | ||
