Extraordinary 1920's French Jet Set in Original Gift Box

NWS 13-899

- Right out of great grandmother's attic is this amazing set.  Do you know just how rare it is to find a set of this age, in this great condition (probably never worn), still together and in its original box? Well, I'm no "bookie", but I'd say the odds are a thousand to one!

- The entire set is made of black glass (commonly called "French Jet") and scattered throughout are clear, simulated diamonds

- The set consists of silver-coated brass; there is no verdigris anywhere on these pieces, although there are a few areas on the backs where the silver coating shows signs of light wear

- The necklace is a delicate floral motif, with the center flower measuring 1 3/8" wide and the florets on either side are slightly smaller;  the length of the necklace is slightly over 16.5" long, and ends in a tiny barrel clasp

- The bracelet consists of 3 rows of French jet in marquis-shaped cabochons that are prong-set into silvertone metal;  24 of these jet stones grace the wrist, with folding clasp and safety chain; bracelet measures 6" long and can be easily lengthened with 1 or 2 jump rings

- The earrings continue the flower motif, with a dangling flower on each, and each has a faux diamond at the center and another at the top;  the earrings are screw-backs and measure .75" wide; one of the screws is a little loose; it works but needs to be tightened

- The ring has two marquis-shaped cabochons, set on the diagonal, with a "diamond" at the top and bottom; the ring is a size 6 1/2 and the band is brass (never had silver coating for some reason)

- The set is still in its original wood gift box which has been covered with paper to simulate granite, and it is embossed with a golden vine around the edge of the lid;  the box's clasp is brass, also engraved; the interior has obviously been made specifically for this set and no other;  the seat of the box is covered in off-white flocked velvet, with forms built-in to exactly fit the individual pieces;  there is some yellowing of the velvet in a few spots;  the underside of the lid is padded, and covered in white silk which is in perfect condition - no stains, no tears

c. 1920, in great condition

Price = $135.00
