Trifari Patriotic Eagle Brooch Sold Thank You NWS 12-1612 ~ Along with the British flag, or "Union Jack", brooch, this famous Trifari Patriotic Eagle Brooch was designed by Alfred Philippe, Trifari's most talented and beloved designer. It was part of their patriotic series of jewelry which became very popular just before and during World War II. ~ This jewelry dates to about 1939 -1941. Beginning in 1942, most metals were restricted for the war effort in America, so costume jewelry makers used sterling silver during, and directly after, the war. This makes it easy for vintage costume jewelry collectors to date these sterling pieces. ~ This brooch. however, got in under the production restrictions. It's made of chromium plated pot metal, and as you can see from the US patent filing above, dates to 1941. ~ This majestic eagle is enameled in navy blue and red. The white stripes are covered with pavé-set, faceted, faux diamonds. ~ As though in mid-flight, the metal wing feathers undulate and spread, giving the brooch a wonderful, 3-dimensional quality. ~ The reverse is signed "Trifari" with the crown logo over the "T". ~ This awesome brooch measures 2.75" across and 2" high. c. 1941, in excellent vintage condition, the enamel is in near mint condition and the stones are all bright and original. Price = $267.00Sold Thank You
