Givenchy Paris Mid-Century Cubist Clip Earrings

NWS 12-1641

~ In the early 20th century, Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque were very busy breaking every art rule they could find, and they found most of them. Together they created what came to be called "Cubism", a radical, avant-garde perspective that turned the art world on its head. Their canvases took on the resemblance of "a field of broken glass", as one critic noted.

~ Geometric form was all the thing. Huburt de Givenchy grew up outside of Paris during this era, so these earrings, probably from the 1950's, reflect that mid-century moderne approach. A handsome slice of design history.

~ And, as with most of Huburt's jewels, these earrings are bold. Let's just not waste time on the dainty here. Givenchy is not for the wallflower. These measure almost 2.75" wide and 2.3" wide. And yes, they will be noticed when you wear them. But then again, why else do you both to wear jewels?

~ Marked on the reverse "Givenchy Paris New York", in near mint condition. Absolutely fabulous!

Price = $167.00 earrs 2, d-j
