Florenza Sapphire & Turquoise Bracelet, Brooch & Earrings NWS 12-1340 ~ Sometimes when we're at our lowest point in life, we don't realize that there's a higher power with a plan for us. Daniel Kasoff was born in New York, his parents having come to America at the turn of the century. His father died, leaving him to be the man of the house at a young age, and Daniel struggled to provide for his widowed mother and five sisters. One day, Dan's coat was stolen in a restaurant. A man by the name of Speier saw his distress and gave him enough money to buy a new coat. As soon as he could, Dan repaid Mr. Speier, who was so impressed with the young boy that he gave him a job at the Speier Costume Company. Young Dan worked there for 10 years, learning every facet of the business, and in 1948 he was able to open his own business. In 1950, he named the company after his wife, Florence. Thus, Florenza was born. For more information on Florenza, click the link below. ~ This fantastic, faux sapphire set is absolutely dazzling. Using stones of only the highest quality, these large, pear-shaped crystals are a deep, Kelly green inside. Surrounding the green is an electric blue, then violet. As you move the stones in your hands, you can see salmon and gold flickering off the facets deep within the stones. These stones have been faceted on both the front and back, and foiled on the back, so that the colors shoot across the crystal faces like a kaleidoscope! ~ Complimenting these large, art glass stones are several teardrops of turquoise, along with scores of glass turquoise beads. ~ Pale, shimmery blue, faceted chatons (rounds) add light to the design, while dozens upon dozens of faceted, aurora borealis (iridescent) chatons in various sizes, add pale blue, apple green, lilac, gold, cobalt and silver to the jewel-scape. ~ To make an even stronger statement, these colorful stones have been set into antiqued silver metal, which forms a dark and dramatic backdrop for the dazzling crystals. Heavenly! ~ The bracelet measures 7.25" long and 1" wide; it terminates in a folding clasp. ~ The earrings are clips and measure a 1/8" long. ~ The brooch measures 3" long (tip to stem) and 1.75" widest. c. 1950, all original stones, in exquisite condition, and simply astounding!
