Art Deco Sterling Ruby & Diamond Bracelet, Designer Signed

on Hold

NWS 10-1374

~ This is the coolest Art Deco bracelet! It is very slinky, having 120 separate, sterling silver links, in 3 rows, each row invisibly linked in the back!

~ Each of these 120 links has a faceted, square-cut crystal that has been deeply set without prongs.

~ The faux rubies have been set in a zig-zag pattern, soooo Art Deco!

~ They just don't make `em like this anymore! Notice the finer details of this amazing bracelet. The stones have open-backed settings, without foil, so that the natural light ignites them with brilliance. Notice also how the designer has engraved a Greek key motif into both sides of the bracelet. That's 80, individually engraved, sterling links, all decorated by hand! Even with my reading glasses on, it's hard to detect the design. It makes you wonder why the designer bothered, but then, that's what they did in the old days. Every minute detail mattered to the better jewelers, as a matter of pride.

~ The bracelet terminates in a jewel-covered shovel clasp. The safety chain has long since disappeared but one could be easily added by your jeweler.

~ The bracelet measures just over 6.75" long and 5/8" wide.

~ The reverse of the clasp is marked "Sterling" and "MH".

Research: In the book, American Jewelry Manufacturers, by Dorothy Rainwater, on p. 175 there is a similar signature "MH", which states that the mark belongs to "Moore & Hofman" which operated in Newark, New Jersey from 1915 to 1922. Considering the brevity of operation under this signature, this bracelet is likely to be extremely rare.
