Art Deco Diamonte & Enamel Necklace by Grosse, Germany on Hold NWS 1-1580
~ The very best designers make their costume jewelry look like the real thing, and Grosse is one of the best. This Art Deco necklace is very classy looking, and it looks like the real deal. "Grosse" is a mark of the German jewelry company, Henkel and Grosse. Located in Pforzheim, Germany, this company has been in business since 1938. Grosse has produced jewelry for Christian Dior since 1955. Grosse also produces jewelry for Burberry's. Their Dior pieces sell routinely for thousands of dollars, and looking at the details of this necklace, you can see why. ~ The necklace is deliciously bold with a geometric design motif that fairly screams Art Deco. The center section is covered in faux diamonds that have been pavé-set into heavily-plated rhodium metal, which sets off the clear, faceted crystals perfectly. ~ The downward jutting "V" has been expertly enameled by hand, its dramatic darkness further setting off the brilliance of the stones. ~ The necklace measures 17.5" long with the extension chain. The centerpiece measures 3.5" wide and 2.8" long and terminates in a folding clasp. ~ Necklace is signed "GrosseŠ" and "Germany" on the reverse. c. 1960-70's, best guess, in mint condition.
